In my ethnicity - Éwé - the formation of musical polyrhythm encompasses not only sound aspects but also motion, with each dancer acting as an additional layer of the musical polyrhythm. Polycentrism intertwines in this game where one becomes a flux of patterns as if they had a life of their own. The performance dives into this intimate relation with multiple vibrations, waves and frequencies as polyrhythm-graphy. Through it, I sculpt sound, become rhythm and chew a decolonial concept of choreography.
Anani Sanouvi and Christiane da Cunha, act as Kawin, blurring the boundaries between performance, dance, sound art and visual arts. In intercommunication with different voices and fields, the artists seek to develop decolonial practices based on the knowledge and notions from the animist crossroads of their respective cultures - Guarany from Christiane and Ewe from Anani. Since 2006, they have been presenting their work in several theaters, festivals, museums and cultural centers, in Brazil and abroad.
