How it works

Is where you can explore and discover all the artistic and cultural events that will be live streamed. The events are listed individually in chronological date and time. If an event belongs to a festival or a specific program then it will be tagged with the name of the program/festival. You can search for events with specific categories, organizers, artists, or cities.

The listing in this page highlights the full program of different cultural institutions and/or festivals. Moreover, it highlights the cities where different events are taking place. From this page you can also access the individual city pages to discover other previous and future events that are, or were, programmed in the city. This pages highlights the full program of a festival or program and maintain its artistic vision and focus. Users will be able to access the festivals or specific programs and discover the performances, workshops, talks, and other activities of a festival or a cultural institution.

Each person mentioned on the Platform will have an individual page with a short biography and links to the artistic events, workshops, talks that s/he participated in. Not only artists are highlighted but also the wider community of people working around a performance, event or festival.

It aims, at the same time, to provide transformative experiences through dance, and to expand the public's enjoyment, appreciation and understanding of dance. How do artists work in a war zone? How can artists safeguard a culture under threat of annihilation? What does courage and daring mean in the context of a hostile invasion by a military force? The devastating war in Europe happening right now totally changes our notions of risk, care, support and the role of the artist for all of us. This conversation explores the impact of Russia’s war on two key figures in the dance world, and what they imagine will be the future of dance in Ukraine.

Cartes sur Table - a future for dance in Ukraine?

On February 24, 2022, on the evening of the day when Russia began its war of conquest with Ukraine, I urgently left Kyiv and went into forced isolation. Kyiv began to be shelled with cruise missiles and I moved to the village of Morozivka, 50 km from Kyiv. I thought life would be safer there.

A week later, the war was 20 km from the place where I stayed. Around the clock we heard explosions and shooting, and a week later we got used to these sounds. Already in early April, Ukrainian Army drove out Russian troops from nearby villages and it became quiet here. Gradually, I began to regain mobility in my body and come out of the stupor. Then I decided to shoot a few videos of improvisations in order to look at the bodily transformations that happened to me from the outside. All the time before that, I felt completely paralyzed - I couldn't force myself to move or do anything at all. The only thing I could do was writing poetry - suddenly the thoughts and the feelings began to take the form of words.

When I analyze my perception of events and information during this time, I get the impression that everything has become completely black and white. Halftones disappeared and all people were divided into "friends" and "foes". In texts, which I began to collect on Facebook, I was searching for these same halftones to bring the ability to feel back into my life. It also become the ability to preserve the imaginative perception of the world beyond good and evil.

I felt it was important to capture this moment. That`s how the movie come out of being isolated in war time.


Le 24 février 2022, le soir du jour où la Russie a commencé sa guerre de conquête avec l'Ukraine, j'ai quitté d'urgence Kyiv et je suis entré en isolement forcé. Kyiv a commencé à être bombardée de missiles de croisière et j'ai déménagé dans le village de Morozivka, à 50 km de Kyiv. Je pensais que la vie y serait plus sûre.

Une semaine plus tard, la guerre était à 20 km de l'endroit où je logeais. Nous avons entendu 24 heures sur 24 des explosions et des coups de feu, et une semaine plus tard, nous nous sommes habitués à ces bruits. Déjà début avril, l'armée ukrainienne a chassé les troupes russes des villages voisins et c'est devenu calme ici. Petit à petit, j'ai commencé à retrouver une mobilité dans mon corps et à sortir de la torpeur. J'ai alors décidé de tourner quelques vidéos d'improvisations afin de regarder de l'extérieur les transformations corporelles qui m'arrivaient. Tout le temps avant cela, je me sentais complètement paralysé - je ne pouvais pas me forcer à bouger ou à faire quoi que ce soit. La seule chose que je pouvais faire était d'écrire de la poésie - soudain, les pensées et les sentiments ont commencé à prendre la forme de mots. 

Lorsque j'analyse ma perception des événements et des informations pendant cette période, j'ai l'impression que tout est devenu complètement noir et blanc. Les demi-teintes ont disparu et toutes les personnes ont été divisées en "amis" et "ennemis". Dans les textes, que j'ai commencé à collecter sur Facebook, je cherchais ces mêmes demi-teintes pour ramener la capacité de ressentir dans ma vie. C'est aussi devenu la capacité de préserver la perception imaginative du monde au-delà du bien et du mal.

J'ai senti qu'il était important d'immortaliser ce moment. C'est ainsi que le film sort de son isolement en temps de guerre.
