Karen Pearlman is a director, with Richard James Allen, of The Physical TV Company (Sydney). They create dance films, dramas, and documentaries informed by research into the history and potential of the cinematic medium. ‘I want to make a film about women’ was shortlisted for an Australian Academy Award and longlisted for an Oscar. It won twenty awards, including the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival Special Jury Prize for: "a film of innovative brilliance, celebrating the inexhaustible, essential tenacity of suppressed artists everywhere".
