After 2 years of waiting, DAN.CIN.LAB is finally celebrating the 10th anniversary of its international festival dedicated to danced films dealing with social issues.
This anniversary program will honor artists, festivals and partner structures with whom the DCL team has realized several projects in the region and abroad, creating each time unique links between artists and inhabitants.
In partnership with Citerne.live, you will be able to discover all the selected films and vote online for the Audience Award of the International Competition DAN.CIN.FEST 2022 around the theme POWER.
This prize will be awarded on Sunday 3 April in a physical ceremony at the Cinéma Le Méliès in Saint-Etienne - France.

mAPs - migrating Artists Project is a European transmedia cooperation project developed over the period 2019-2022 by DAN.CIN. LAB (Saint-Etienne - FR), COORPI (Turin - IT), MØZ (Athens - GR), TANZRAUSCHEN (Wuppertal - DE) and MALAKTA FILMS (Vaasa - FI), aiming to support 5 artistic teams for the production and distribution of a collection of 5 dance films around the theme POWER, bearing a commitment to strong ethical values, questioning contemporary societal problems and involving communities in its creative process at each stage of its development. The Call of Dance is a raw, immersive collection of moments in modern Senegalese dance that captures the complexity of this new era of multiplicity.
Throughout the film, dancers’ movements embody individuality, history, emotion, and aspiration, sharing everything from solitary meditations on the nuance of the everyday to the kinetics of collective experience. At the Dakar Cultural Center, in a Krump battle, by the ocean, before a wrestling contest, at a village initiation ceremony – all of life is a site for the medium of dance, and every stage contributes its own energy.
