In 1975, Pina Bausch created a version of Le Sacre du Printemps for the Tanztheater Wuppertal, which became emblematic of 20th-century dance theater. Retaining Stravinsky's original score, already famous for the scandal surrounding its premiere in 1913 with Nijinsky, her version was dominated by the earth covering the ground, the violent nature of relationships, and death. In 2010, Roger Bernat proposed a radical reinterpretation without professional ballet dancers. Stravinsky's music remains, but takes on a political meaning: it questions who leads, who obeys, and how decisions are made in a group. The work confronts each individual with their responsibility within collective systems.
