Born in 1997, Clara Grosjean is a dance artist, based between Lyon, and Saorge, in the South of the French Alps.

She studied at Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School in Denmark (2017-18), Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, UK (2018-19), before joining the Amsterdam University of the Arts and graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor in Contemporary Dance.

She performed in the works of Guillerme Botehlo, Katja Heitmann, Maureen Jonker, Julie Magneville, Sanne Clifford, Thomas Chopin, Rita Marcalo, and Nawelle Aïnèche.

In 2022, she founded the Compagnie Sfumato, based in Lyon, to develop her own artistic works. In 2024-25, she created Les Marées Sèches, a long durational and choreographic performance for algae and a human.

She pursues a long term research project on anthropocentrism and ecology within performance pratices and choreography.

Les Marées Sèches

Les Marées Sèches (The Dry Tides) is a long durational and choreographic performance for algae and a human in a horizontal and non-hierarchal relationship.  It attempts to answer a paradoxical question: What would be a non-anthropocentric choreographic work? The performance’s temporality is defined according to the tidal cycle, 6 hours and 12 minutes. It is also an act of resistance against the acceleration of our lives and a way to trouble our productivity-driven mindset, which reduces our capacity of listening to other living beings.
